Built Just For Us

After 60 years of adapting to spaces not built around our unique mission, Joya broke ground on our new facility in spring 2021, marking a major milestone in the organization’s long history in Spokane County. In May of 2022 we moved into our new home which is especially designed to optimize care for Joya’s children and families. Our new home is 42,000 square feet with approximately 10,000 square feet of shelled space for anticipated future expansion.

Joya is so grateful to our partners Bouten Construction and NAC Architecture for their amazing work on the design and construction of our new facility.

Our New Home

This new facility is our opportunity to achieve remarkable growth.

As our lease was set to expire at our longtime Garland Avenue location in June 2022, the timing couldn’t have been better for us to have found a permanent home for Joya. Located on a beautiful property on the banks of the Spokane River in the heart of the growing University District, this new building was designed for maximum collaboration and comprehensive care, and is a welcoming, joyful, connective space for our children and families.

Why the University District?

Strategically located in Spokane’s University District, the site is just blocks from The University of Washington School of Medicine-Gonzaga University Regional Health Partnership and the Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, in addition to Eastern Washington University, Whitworth University and the Community Colleges of Spokane, all with programs across the health sciences and special education.

The location gives Joya the opportunity to collaborate with even more therapists, researchers, teachers, clinicians, and social workers who deliver the most comprehensive care for our children and families. And, we’ll have more opportunities to train students who study to be the early intervention leaders of tomorrow.
